CHADRON – Eight Metro State women’s basketball players scored at least six points and the Roadunners sank eight 3-pointers en route to their 76-40 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Friday at Armstrong Gymnasium.

The Eagles (3-15, 3-11 RMAC) will host Regis University tonight (Saturday). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

On Friday, the Roadrunners were led by the hot shooting of Cassie Lambrecht, who scored 16 points, including four from beyond the arc, four rebounds and four assists. Kristen Valencia chipped in with six points and 10 rebounds and Amy Nelson sank six of seven field goals to finish with 13 points.

Chadron State was led by Kattie Ranta who finished with 10 points on five of nine shooting to go along with four rebounds, while Sadie Waugh had seven points and four rebounds.

Metro, now 13-6 overall and 11-3 in the conference, never trailed in the game and raced out to a 36-20 lead at intermission. The Roadrunners continued their hot shooting in the second half when they sank over 40 percent of their shots, while limiting Chadron State to just 29 percent.

A big key for Metro was its ability to shoot from long range, hitting eight 3-pointers compared to the Eagles’ one.

Metro State also out-rebounded the Eagles by 11 and scored 13 points off 18 turnovers.
