(Neb.)-Ranta named to RMAC All-Academic Second Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State College’s Kattie Ranta has been named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Second Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

To qualify for the all-academic teams, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution.

Ranta, a junior forward from Rapid City, S.D., has a 3.52 GPA in physical education and health. She currently leads the Eagles in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.7 points and 7.8 rebounds a game.

Two other CSC members were named honorable mention. They are Hattie Guzman of Scottsbluff and Dallas Shaw of Buffalo, Wyo.

Alyssa Lopez of New Mexico Highlands is the Women’s Basketball All-Academic Player of the Year, while Mitch McCarron of Metro is the Men’s All-Academic Player of the Year.
