(Neb.)-Area football players recognized
The Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald have announced their all-state football selections, with Sioux County leading the way among area players.
Sioux County running back Jonny Dunn and defensive end Garret Gray were named to the six man first team by both papers after leading the Warriors to the school's first ever state final, finishing runner up to Wauneta-Palisade.
Kyle Westover, Josh Kling, Phillip Parker and Jeremiah Fink also received honorable mentions for Sioux County from both papers.
In class C-1, Chadron quarterback TD Stein earned an honorable mention from the Journal Star, while Stein and defensive lineman Colin Deines were honorable mentions in the World Herald. Chadron finished the season with a 5-3 record, losing to Gothenburg in the second round of the playoffs.
Hemingford had three players on both D-1 honorable mention lists, running back Ethan Skinner, wide receiver Colt Foster and linebacker Blake Hansen. The Bobcats went undefeated in the regular season before losing to Loup City in the second round of the playoffs.
