(Neb.)-Girls cross country qualifies for state

The Chadron girls cross country team finished second and the boys narrowly missed qualifying for state at the district meet Thursday in Ogallala.

Nicky Applegarth finished third, Briley Hannaford was fifth and Kiya Passero took seventh to lead the girls to a runner up finish and punch the team’s ticket to the state competition.

While the boys team didn’t qualify, every member of the squad did run personal best times. Phil Duncan and Alec Burk qualified for state as individuals, with Duncan placing ninth and Burk 13th.

The state competition will be October 19 in Kearney.
