(Neb.)-Chadron volleyball suffers tough loss to Sidney
The Chadron volleyball team fell to Sidney at home Tuesday night in what Head Coach Don Matt called a hard fought match between two evenly matched teams.
The Cardinals took an early lead on Sidney, winning the first set, 25-21. The Red Raiders then battled back to narrowly win the second, 26-24. They then won the third, 25-22 to put Chadron in a 2-1 hole. The Lady Cardinals responded by winning the fourth set, 25-23, but lost the fifth set, 16-14.
Chadron was led offensively by three seniors, with 22 kills from Ashlyn Eitemiller and 16 from Alia Brennan, as well as 47 assists from Maggie Earney.
Defensively, Ashlea Kerr was solid with seven ace blocks and 15 digs, while Eitemiller added 20 digs and another senior, Jazzy McLain, had 20.
Coach Matt said it was a good learning experience for the team and lets them know what they need to improve on over the last three weeks of the season before districts.
Chadron will return to action Saturday at the Valentine Invite.
