RAPID CITY, S.D. – Led by Ashley Riesen and Jayme Nunes, the Chadron State College women's cross country team won its third consecutive dual Friday afternoon against South Dakota School of Mines.

The Eagles, who are in their first year of cross country at the Division II level, also defeated South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State earlier this month.

On Friday, CSC's recipe for success was similar as its top two runners led the way. Riesen cruised to first place in the 5K race with a time of 18 minutes, 47.74 seconds, while Nunes, came in second at 19:17.24.

Becca Volf, Teren Hanson, Miranda Karn and Sara Townsend also added top 10 finishes for the Eagles as they outscored the Hardrockers, 21-35.

Tyler Nack, who was running unattached, won the men's 5-mile race in a time of 26:46.34 but five South Dakota School of Mines runners followed him in within 35 seconds of one another as the Hardrockers scored 15 points to secure the dual victory.

Domingo Torres and Alex Johnson both finished in the top 10 for Chadron State. Torres was seventh in 28:03.81 and Johnson wasn't far behind in eighth (28:08.08).

Also for Chadron State, Evans Koech was 11th, Doug Harris was 12th and Nathan Faulkner was 13th.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action at the Chile Pepper
