(Neb.)-Chadron golfers struggle in Scottsbluff

By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 09/17/2012 11:10 AM
Scottsbluff Country Club was not friendly to the Chadron girls golf team as they struggled to a team score of 426 on Saturday. The course played tough for most of the field, with every team except Scottsbluff and Gering struggling to match their season averages.

Kelli Haynes had one of her worst rounds of the season, shooting a 96. That included an 11 on hole 6 where she hit into the water three times.

It wasn't all bad for Chadron though, as the other three golfers each shot their personal bets for the Scottsbluff course. Taylor Strotheide posted a 101, Cali Crile had a 111 and Haleigh Shuck finished at 118.

Head Coach Curt Holmquist said playing a tough course like Scottsbluff definitely helps his team in the long run as they wind down the regular season with districts just two weeks away.

Scottsbluff won the tournament with a 342, and Kaitlyn Kryzyanowski was the top individual at 79.

The girls' next action is Monday in Ogallala.
