By: John Thayer Posted at: 06/05/2012 11:20 AM
The second of four football team camps is underway at Chadron State College.

Athletic director Brad Smith said about 400 players from 10 schools arrived Sunday afternoon and will stay through Wednesday noon, when another group will arrive.

Smith said about 300 players from six schools participated in the first camp last week. Approximately 550 players from 14 schools are registered for the camp that will begin Wednesday afternoon this week.

The final camp, which will be for 8-man teams, will begin this coming Sunday, June 10. About 350 players from 30 schools are expected, making the total for the four camps about 60 teams and approximately 1,600 players.

An individual skills basketball camp for girls entering grades five through eight this fall will be held at CSC on Monday and Tuesday, June 11 and 12, followed by a girls’ high school team camp the weekend of June 15-17.

The Eagles’ annual wrestling team camp is scheduled for June 17-20.  A boys’ basketball camp for fifth through ninth graders is slated for June 20-23, followed by a boys’ high school team camp June 23 and 24.

All the camps are being conducted by the Chadron State coaching staffs with CSC athletes among those providing assistance.
