By: John Thayer Posted at: 05/23/2012 07:43 AM

KEARNEY – Renen Sahr of Gordon-Rushville is looking to make a push on the final day of the Class C State Golf Tournament at Kearney Country Club in Kearney.

Sahr finished day one with a 79 (+8) after enjoying two birdies and six pars. He did post a bogey on 10 holes, but nothing worse.

A surge won’t be easy as the clubhouse leader, Mitchell Klooz of Plainview, is 3-under after day one. No other golf is currently under par. Including Sahr and Klooz, 15 golfers are 8-over or better.

Sahr is scheduled to head off the No. 1 tee box at 9:50 MT.

In Class D, Colton Micheel of Crawford and Regg Strotheide of Hay Springs will try to improve on their day one efforts. Micheel finished Tuesday’s opening day with a 94 (+24), while Sthrotheide struggle to an even 100 (+30).

Micheel begins Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. MT off the No. 1 tee box, while Strotheide will start his day on No. 10 at 9:50 a.m. MT.

The Class D state golf tournament is being played at River’s Edge Golf Club in North Platte.
