(Neb)-Chadron And Rapid City Police Combine For Sexual Assault Arrest
By: John Axtell Posted at: 04/16/2018 05:33 PM CHADRON - Police in Chadron and Rapid City combined last week to arrest the suspect in a sexual assault case in Chadron. 19-year old Taylan Schutz of Rapid City was taken into custody without incident Thursday in Rapid City on a Dawes County warrant for 1st-degree sexual assault.
Chadron officer Patrick Young says a woman contacted Chadron police on Wednesday and said she'd been sexually assaulted the night before in Chadron. Young says an investigation identified Schutz as the suspect and determined Wednesday evening that he was in Rapid City.
Based on the information from Chadron, Rapid City police and Pennington County Sheriff's deputies obtained and served search warrants on Schutz's vehicle and phones.
Evidence obtained through the search warrants led Dawes County Attorney Vance Haug to issue a felony arrest warrant, which Rapid City police served on Schutz around midmorning on Thursday. Bond was set at $250,000.
