(Neb)-Friday Crash Near Rushville Claims Two Lives -UPDATE
RUSHVILLE - Sheridan County Attorney Jamian Simmons says two members of a northern Panhandle-area family were killed and a third seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision early Friday evening on Highway 20 near Rushville.
46-year old Lynell Cash and her 14-year old son Waylon had originally lived in Hay Springs, moved to Pine Ridge, and purchased a home in Hay Springs last year but Simmons says it's not clear if they had moved back.
Simmons says that according to the initial accident report, the Cashes and her younger daughter were westbound 3 miles west of Rushville about 7:30 Friday night when they were struck head-on by 31-year old William Hilton of Rushville, who was eastbound and had pulled out to pass a semi.
Lynell and Waylon Cash were pronounced dead at the scene while the girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was taken to Gordon Memorial Hospital, as was Hilton. Both were later flown to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where their conditions are not known.
The accident remains under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol and the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office with no citations issued at this time. Simmons says investigators have not determined if alcohol was a factor.
