(Neb)-Retired NU Prof Challenging Sen Fischer In Primary
LINCOLN, Neb. - Retired University of Nebraska professor Dr. Jack Heidel has entered the race for U.S. Senate, challenging incumbent Deb Fischer of Valentine in the Republican primary.
Heidel says his concerns include federal spending - which he calls a national security issue - and continued talk of pulling out out of NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, and the impact it would have on Nebraska farmers and rural communities.
Heidel has run for office twice. He unsuccessfully challenged incumbent 2nd-District Congressman Lee Terry in the 2012 Republican primary and won a seat on the Learning Community Achievement Subcouncil 3.
