(Neb)-Two Names Submitted To Gov For Appeals Court Vacancy
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska Judicial Nominating Commission has sent two names to Governor Pete Ricketts to consider for the vacancy on the Nebraska Appeals Court that will be created by the pending retirement of Judge Everett Inbody...a judge at the county, district, and appeals court level for nearly 32 years.
Ricketts isn't required to appoint either David Bargen of Adams or Lawrence Welch of Beaver Lake, but governors almost never ignore recommendations from the Nominating Commission.
The appointee will represent the 5th Appellate District covering 24 counties in southeast Nebraska, excluding Lancaster and Seward counties.
Bargen is in private practice and has been a partner in the Lincoln firm of Rembolt Ludtke for 11 years and is considered one of the top environmental law attorneys in Nebraska.
Welch has been in private practice his entire career, going into partnership with his father after graduating from law school in 1998.
