(Neb)-Andy Gooder Chadron City Employee Of The Year Listen
CHADRON - Andy Gooder of the Chadron Parks and Airport Department is the 2017 Chadron City Employee of the Year, chosen by a vote of his fellow workers out of a field of 5 nominees. The others were Nicole Forney, Janet Johnson, Heather Wing, and Wade Yada.
Before announcing Gooder - a finalist last year - as the winner, City Manager Greg Yanker last night explained the qualities used by city workers in choosing the Employee of the Year.
Gooder's nomination described him as always in a good mood and putting those around him in one too as well as always being professional in relating to both the public and his fellow employees.
The nomination credits him as being a big reason the most recent airport inspection went well, pointing how he worked side-by-side with the crew to make the airport as good and attractive as possible since it's the first impression of Chadron for many travelers.
Four Chadron employees were also recognized for reaching employment milestones this year - utilities clerk Lori Storbeck 5 years, Police Chief Tim Lordino for 10 years, Building and Zoning Officer Janet Johnson 30 years, and Street Superintendent Terry Birnbaum 35 years.
A reception was held this morning at City Hall to recognize those honored last night and thank all city employees for their service in 2017
