By: John Axtell Posted at: 11/24/2017 08:29 AM Black Friday got its now-usual Thanksgiving Day start in Chadron last evening when retail giant WalMart's special sales began at 6:00 p-m. Manager Adam Gardner says it was another great night for the store and its customers.

Gardner says his employees also deserve a big thanks for their hard work in making the experience so positive for the shoppers.
While Black Friday is still the traditional start to the Christmas sales season, nearly 3 dozen Chadron busineses have been in the midst of the season for nearly 2 full weeks now with the Christmas Passport program of the Chadron Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber Director Brooke Smith says it's been exciting to see the way businesses and shoppers have taken to the 2-year old program, which is similar to the Nebraska Tourism Commission's Passport program with shoppers getting stamps from participating businesses that make them eligible for drawings.
Smith says stamps can be earned through Christmas Eve with the drawing to select 4 winners of $50 each in Chamber Bucks to be held two days after Christmas on Wednesday the 27th.
Smith says the Christmas Passport complements the national Shop Local campaign and tomorrow's Small Business Shop Small Saturday.
