(SD)-Pine Ridge Woman Accused Of Assaulting Tribal Officers
PINE RIDGE, S.D. (AP) - A Pine Ridge woman faces charges of assaulting tribal police officers for allegedly trying to shoot them as they arrested her last Tuesday for vehicle theft. Connie Wilson remains in custody.
KELO-TV reports an Oglala Sioux Tribe police officer responding to a call at an apartment complex in Pine Ridge spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
According to court documents, an FBI special agent said that after a brief investigation, Wilson was arrested, handcuffed, and placed in the back seat of a patrol car but slipped out of the handcuffs.
She's accused of grabbing and loading a rifle, then firing a shot through the floor of the car when officers approached. No one was hurt and Wilson surrendered the gun.
