(DAWES COUNTY)-This year’s 2014 District 4-H shows are currently underway in six locations across the state with a total of 440 exhibitors and 1,259 entries. Officials say these competitions are an opportunity for young people to showcase what they have learned through their 4-H horse project area and to practice good sportsmanship.

The following 4-H’ers from Dawes County attended the district show held at Sidney on Monday, June 9th. The results are as follows:

Jake Lemmon received championship honors and a purple ribbon in the Junior Division Barrel Racing and Pole Bending. Kane Wellnitz received all blue ribbons in the Senior Division Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, and Reining. Both contestants have now qualified to enter the State 4-H Horse Expo to be held at FonnerPark in Grand Island, July 13th-17th.
