(Neb.)-Ideas Presented On Possible Trailhead In Chadron
(Chadron)-Big ideas are flowing in Chadron, and the Dawes County Travel Board was made aware of some of the improvement ideas at their Wednesday morning meeting at the Dawes County Courthouse. Deb Cottier, Executive Director with Nebraska Northwest Development Corporation, presented information to the Board regarding the Cowboy Trail and Downtown Revitalization in Chadron.
According to Cottier, no actions have taken place yet, but a great opportunity has presented itself to refurbish the old railroad line east of Chadron and turn it into a great walking or biking trail, that would be incorporated with the Cowboy Trail portion of Rails to Trails. She presented ideas that had been included in a revitalization study presented to the Chadron City Council, stating that a trailhead could be constructed at Railroad Park at the corner of 1st and Main Streets.
Along with being a great utilization of space, it could be an opportunity for the Travel Board to market Dawes County to visitors. Although no definite plans have been made to develop this area, Cottier encouraged the Board to keep an open mind and look for possible opportunities for development of this trail and trailhead in the future. She offered to make copies of the revitalization plan for the Board to allow them more time to review the ideas as well as other projects presented.
