(Neb.)-Addition To Live Auction For Old West Trail Rodeo Fundraiser

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 04/08/2014 10:45 AM

(Crawford)-Every summer, people in Dawes County and the surrounding areas look forward to the Old West Trail Rodeo which takes place in Crawford over the July 4th holiday. And each year, people work hard behind the scenes to make sure this takes place. One of the events that happens months prior to the rodeo is a fundraiser, with this year’s event happening this weekend.  Jody Bass said the annual fundraiser will take place Saturday evening at the rodeo grounds in Crawford.
The social hour will start at 6 pm, with dinner following at 7.  It will take place at the Old West Trail Rodeo building in Crawford. There will be a live auction and silent auction after dinner with a gun raffle as well. To get to the building, Bass says go through the City Park in Crawford, and it is the big building that sits on top of the hill above the rodeo arena.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from any board member or at the door, with a cost of $35 for a couple and $20 per person. Bass said she is excited to announce a great addition to their live auction.
Roger Roberts with Roberts Performance Horses has donated stud fees for three of his horses. Bass said it is set up in three different ways. The winning bidder can breed one mare per stud, breed three mares with one stud, or a combination of the two. The studs being offered are Conrad Cash, Frosty Cadillac and Rage Bar Jack.
Another activity synonymous with the rodeo is Tough Enough To Wear Pink. Bass said that July 3 will be the Pink night at the rodeo, and they are kicking off t-shirt sales this week at another fundraiser being held in Chadron.
The Circle of Light fundraiser is taking place Friday evening at the Panhandle Events Center in Chadron, and Bass said that is where they will begin selling their Tough Enough To Wear Pink t-shirts. They will also be sold at the fundraiser in Crawford the following night. Bass said they are fortunate in that all of the proceeds from the sale of these shirts goes directly to the Circle of Light, and they are fortunate to be able to keep all of these funds local.
If anyone would like to purchase tickets or t-shirts, they can contact Bass at 430-3858. Rusty Riggs can also be contacted for ticket sales, and can be reached at 430-0772.
