(Neb.)- Chadron School Board Looks Towards Roof Improvements
(Chadron)- The Chadron School Board met at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday evening in the Central Office Board Room. The board opened their meeting with recognition of several community members who have made contributions to several areas of Chadron Public Schools including the relocation of the middle school play ground equipment, and donated funds that allowed for the CHS pep band to travel to the girls state basketball tournament in Lincoln.
Uati (Wa-Ti) PaoPao was recognized by the board, as he recently received the Nebraska Educator Lead with Technology Award from NETA. Chadron High Principal Jerry Mack was highlighted for informing the Nebraska Attorney Generals office of a potentially harmful social media site. The board reported that the site has since been shut down.
Several policies that were being made current were approved by the board, including policies concerning the code of ethics policy, restraint and seclusion policy, and the conflict of interest policy.
Following concerns expressed by Chadron Schools Superintendent Dr. Caroline Winchester regarding sections of a leaky roof in the primary building, the board approved a motion to take action this summer. Construction is expected to start in July.
The board approved and accepted the resignations of John and Stacy Girard.
A student in attendance at Monday evening’s meeting informed the board and others in attendance, that the Chadron High Speech Team earned Runner-Up recently at the Western Trails Conference Meet. It was the first time the finished in the top two in nineteen years.
Board President Sandy Roes announced that the new Chadron High School marquee sign will be assembled and erected this week.
The board will next meet on April 14th in the Central Office Board Room.
