(Neb.)-Free Turkey Hunting Workshop Set For April In Chadron
(CHADRON)-Hunters wanting to be successful at bagging a turkey this spring will have the opportunity to learn how to do so on Thursday, March 20th, in Chadron. Nick Zaczek, the region’s National Wild Turkey Federation forester based in Crawford, will deliver a presentation about hunting gobblers as part of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Turkey Hunting Workshop series. The event will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. in room 231 of the Burkhiser Complex at Chadron State College.
The workshop is open to all ages and levels of experience. Zaczek plans to present basics for beginning turkey hunters as well as address a number of the sport’s finer points. He said the presentation may be followed up by a field day if enough participants are interested.
The Chadron presentation is being cosponsored by the NWTF and the Chadron State College Wildlife Club. It is one of six Game and Parks workshops across the state that lead up to the spring turkey seasons. The others, which also require registration at huntsafenebraska.org, will be at North Platte, Ponca, Louisville, Gretna and Lincoln.
The Nebraska archery turkey season for youth and adults begins March 25th. Shotgun season for youth begins April 5th, followed by the general shotgun opener April 12th. Each season ends May 31st.
