(Neb.)-Bids Accepted For Crushed Rock But Approval Slated After Review

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 03/05/2014 11:09 AM

(Chadron)-Three bids for crushed rock were submitted to the Dawes County Commissioners for their consideration at the regular meeting of the Board on Wednesday morning. The bids were submitted by Custom Rock, Western Construction and Mark Chrisman.
Two of the bids included individual prices for the three rock pits in the county, and all three submitted an all-inclusive bid. Kustom Rock submitted bids of $4.26 per cubic yard for the Moody Pit, $4.26 per cubic yard for the Bruns Pit, $4.75 for the Rickenbach Pit, and all inclusive of $3.98 per cubic yard. Western Construction had an all inclusive bid of $6.50 per yard. Mark Chrisman submitted $3.68 for the Moody Pit, $3.74 for the Bruns Pit and the Rickenbach pit, and $3.70 all inclusive.
The Board accepted all three bids, and authorized Road Superintendent Larry Hankin to analyze and review all of the specifications of the bid, and then go ahead with approving one of the submissions so that work can be scheduled to begin. Chrisman would like to start within the next two weeks, while Custom Rock said they could begin in mid April, and Western could begin in late summer.
The Board also visited with Lacy Peterson in Human Resources, and authorized work to be done on the stair carpeting at the Office Mall at 250 Main Street. Peterson said the carpet was worn and becoming a safety hazard. The Board said they would have Jake Downs do the work and gave the go-ahead to get started on the repairs, unless the price would be excessive. Peterson presented a bid from Morford’s Decorating Center in Chadron for flooring for the Commissioner’s Meeting Room and the Human Resources Office for $2334, which the Board approved as well. The work will be done on a Thursday and Friday so as not to interfere with regular business.
