(Neb.)-Agate Fossil Beds To Host Sioux County Schools This Week
(SIOUX COUNTY)-Sioux County elementary school students will be utilizing Agate Fossil Beds National Monument as a classroom this week. The monument’s 5th Annual Fall Science Day will take place on Thursday, November 7th, starting at 9:00 a.m. All of Sioux County’s elementary school students, including those from the Harrison Grade School, the Pink School, the Panhandle School, and the Chalk Butte School, will be attending the event, as this is a normal school day for the students.
This year’s focus is paleontology with Agate Fossil Beds rangers and Shane Tucker, salvage paleontologist for the Nebraska Department of Roads. The group will participate in different programs and hikes throughout the day. The students have also worked on presentations in their individual classrooms and will be sharing their work with others at 11:00 a.m.
