(Neb.)-Chadron PD Reminder, 'Secure Your Trailer/Truck Loads'

By: Dennis and Kathi Brown Posted at: 10/12/2013 10:16 AM
The following is a press release sent from the Chadron Police Departmert

The Chadron Police Department has received reports of tree debris in the roadway by those transporting broken branches and trees to the SWANN disposal site.

Partial loads have been lost and struck by other vehicles on the street/in the lane of traffic, which causes a vehicular traffic hazard.  We want to make sure everyone takes their time in making sure their loads are secure to avoid damages to other motor vehicles.  Motorists involved in these types of events are required to report them to law enforcement to so that they can be investigated. Most likely your insurance company will ask for a law enforcement report if you turn in damage resulting from this type of accident. In the event you do lose debris, we are asking that you stop, pick it up and remove it from the roadway as soon as possible.

If the item is too big to be removed from the street, please contact the city during normal business hours at 432-0505 or the Chadron Police Department after hours at 432-0510 we would be glad to assist you in removing the large tree branch from the roadway.
