(Neb.)-State Senator Pete Pirsch Considering Run For State Auditor
LINCOLN, Neb. (ASSOCIATED PRESS) - A Nebraska lawmaker says he is "strongly considering" a run for state auditor in the 2014 election.
Sen. Pete Pirsch of Omaha said Thursday that he planned to make a decision shortly. Pirsch says he believes he would fit well into the job because of his experience as a lawmaker who has worked on state tax policy and government efficiency.
Nebraska's current state auditor, Mike Foley, is running for governor. Pirsch visited Grand Island's Husker Harvest Days on Thursday, and has been traveling to other towns in Nebraska.
Pirsch, a Republican, was elected to the Legislature in 2006 and re-elected four years later. He is ineligible to run again because of term limits.
Pirsch says he continue his focus on government efficiency if elected.
