(Neb.)-Tax Hearing Tips And Training Available At Chadron Public Schools Wednesday  Listen

(CHADRON)-As part of its study of the Nebraska Tax Code, the state’s Tax Modernization Committee is making its rounds to different locations throughout the state in an effort to hear taxpayers’ comments and concerns in regard to the state’s tax structure. Residents in the Panhandle will have their closest opportunity to have their voices heard at a public hearing in Scottsbluff, which will be held Monday, Sept. 23rd, at Western Nebraska Community College’s Harms Technology Center from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
 
Chadron Public Schools superintendent Caroline Winchester explains a little bit more about the tax modernization committee.

They are also taking a look at the inheritance tax, which only occurs in Nebraska and five other states. Winchester says she feels it is vital to share a Panhandle perspective of taxes with lawmakers, and the school is making every effort to help residents put their thoughts into words.

That training opportunity is taking place Wednesday evening at the high school’s central office starting at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.
 
Winchester says the stars have aligned in a sense to provide rural communities a good chance right now to be heard.
