(Neb.)-Memorial Ceremony To Mark Gering Toddler's Death
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (ASSOCIATED PRESS) - A candle lighting ceremony has been scheduled to mark the five-year anniversary of a Gering toddler's death.
The memorial for Juliette Geurts will be held Thursday night at a local cemetery.
Police have investigated Juliette's 2008 death as a homicide. Her mother, Charyse Geurts, told authorities she found her 2-year-old daughter dead in her crib.
Dustin Chauncey, Charyse Geurts' boyfriend at the time, has been charged with felony child abuse resulting in death. Two other charges he faced have been dismissed because of the statute of limitations. His trial begins in August.
Charges against Charyse Geurts also have been dismissed because of the statute of limitations.
