(S.D.)- Official Says State Park Revenue Up From Last Year

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 07/10/2013 11:08 AM
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Parks and Recreation Director Doug Hofer says total state park revenue through the end of June was up nearly 5 percent from the same period a year ago.
Hofer says the number of park entrance licenses sold has dropped slightly from a year ago, probably because of the cool spring. But he says license revenue is up about 6 percent because of a small increase in annual state park entrance licenses.
Hofer says the number of camping permits is up about 9 percent so far this year, with Custer State Park up 17 percent.
Total revenue for park entrance licenses and camping had reached nearly $7.1 million by the end of June, up nearly 5 percent from a year earlier.
