By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 05/20/2013 07:56 AM

GERING, Neb. (AP) - Fire has damaged a garage housing antique cars and other auto memorabilia in Gering but the owners who live in an apartment above the garage are safe after their rescue by firefighters.

Cozad's Ford Garage in Gering has significant damage from fire, smoke and water Sunday morning but will be repaired. Antique cars were removed during the fire but some have damage from smoke and falling objects.

Tom Cozad says he and his wife Donna were awakened and rescued from a balcony by the Scottsbluff Fire Department.

Most of the damage is contained to a display area where Cozad stores antique cars.

Tom Cozad says the fire is believed to have been started by an electrical short.
