(S.D.)- SD's Special Olympics Games Kick Off In Spearfish
SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota's Special Olympics State Summer Games are getting underway in Spearfish.
Opening ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Donald E. Young Center gymnasium with the lighting of the torch.
Some 600 athletes participated in the 2012 Summer Games in Spearfish, with coaches and parents boosting the total number to several thousand people. It was the largest Special Olympics state event held in South Dakota.
The games run through Saturday.
