(Wyo.)-Care Packages Aim To Give Soldiers A Taste Of Home

By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 05/13/2013 07:42 AM
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The 160 members of the Wyoming Army National Guard's 133rd Engineering Company deployed recently will be receiving regular reminders of home.

Laramie residents Liz Zimmer and Jessica Romero are teaming up to send monthly care packages to the unit, which will be stationed in Bahrain. They're hoping others join the effort, which they're calling Treats for Troops.

     Romero says
it's an effort to make the men and women Guard members feel at home by sending them something as simple as a cookie or a brownie.

Zimmer and Romero both run baking businesses. They'll spearhead the treat-baking portion of the care packages, but they hope to include more.

Anyone is welcome to donate money to help offset costs or contribute items to distribute to the soldiers.
