(Neb.)-Chadron Police Department Reminds Residents Of City’s Weed Ordinances
(CHADRON)-Spring is here, and the Chadron Police Department would like to request the community’s assistance in maintaining lots and yards per city ordinances 11-304, 11-305 and 11-307. The PD offers a friendly reminder to residents to mow and spray properties early and on a regularly basis.
11-304. WEEDS; DECLARED NUISANCE. It shall be a nuisance to permit or maintain any growth of twelve inches or more in height of weeds, grasses, or worthless vegetation on any lot or piece of ground within the city.
11-505. WEEDS; DUTY OF OWNER OR OCCUPANT. It shall be the duty of the owner or occupant of all lots and pieces of ground within the City to keep the lots and pieces of ground and the adjoining streets and alleys free of any growth of twelve inches or more in height of weeds, grasses, or worthless vegetation, and in the event such nuisance has not been removed, shall abate and remove such nuisance upon notice as hereinafter provided.
11-307. WEEDS. Shall include, but not be limited to, bindweed (convolvulus arvensis), puncture vine (tribulus terrestris), leafy spurge (euphorbia esula), Canadian thistle (cirsium arvense), perennial peppergrass (lepidium draba), Russian knapweed (centaurea pictis), Johnson grass (sorghum halepense), nodding or musk thistle, quack grass (agropyron repens), perennial sow thistle (sonchus arvensis), horse needle (solanum carolinense), bull thistle (cirsium lanceolatum), buckthorn (rhamnus sp.) (tourn), hemp plant (cannabis sativa), and ragweed (ambrosiaceae).
