(Wyo.)- Wyoming K-12 School Enrollment Exceeds 90K

     CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming's K-12 public school enrollment has exceeded 90,000 for the first time since 1999.
     The Wyoming Department of Education says state school districts count 90,993 students this school year. That is up 1.7 percent from 89,476 in the 2011-12 school year.
     Agency data analyst Leslie Zimmerschied noted a record kindergarten enrollment this year helped boost numbers.
     Over the last seven years, Wyoming's total enrollment has increase by more than 7,000 students. Historically, Wyoming's peak enrollment came in 1993 when the state saw 100,899 students in its schools. Enrollment then dropped to a less than 84,000 in 2005-06.
     Laramie County District 1 in Cheyenne remains the state's largest district with more than 13,000 students, followed by Natrona County with about 12,700.
     Sheridan County District 3 remains the smallest with 90 students.
