(S.D.)-Little Information Available In Sunday Accident Near State Line
(Oelrichs)-A two-vehicle accident Sunday evening near the Nebraska/South Dakota state line prompted several agencies to respond with emergency personnel. Although a call to the South Dakota State Patrol has not yet been returned, scanner traffic the night of the accident indicated personnel from Chadron, Crawford, Oelrichs, Hot Springs and even Hay Springs were alerted, with some crews called to be on stand-by.
The initial call came in to Chadron dispatch around 7:30 Sunday evening of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 385 north of Chadron by the state line. It was believed that there were five injuries, with one possibly serious. It was later stated that both drivers had exited their vehicles at some point and were walking around, with one driver feeling faint and returning to the vehicle. The other driver and at least one passenger reported minor injuries, and another passenger was complaining of back pains.
Crews from Chadron were among the first on the scene, and reported the accident site to be approximately ½ mile north of the state line in South Dakota. Several of those involved were transported to the hospital, but no report on the extent of the injuries has been received. No information is available at this time on the identity of those involved, but if any other information is released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol we will pass that along to our listeners.
