(Chadron)- When Judge Charles Plantz retired in December, 2011 it opened up a judgeship in the 12th Judicial District of Nebraska. On March 8th, 2013 Governor Dave Heineman selected Chadron Attorney and Dawes County Public Defender Paul Wess to fill that vacancy, which will be in Box Butte County. Monday afternoon (March 25th) an open house was held for those in the community to congratulate Wess on the recent appointment. Wess tells KCSR News the thought behind the transition from Public Defender to County Judge.
