GERING, Neb. (AP) - The 42-year-old Scottsbluff man accused of robbing a bank on the day before Thanksgiving has been found competent to stand trial.
Michael Scott is facing charges in two separate cases. One is the Nov. 21 robbery of a Valley Bank branch. The other case involves theft and fraud charges related to more than $8,000 in losses with bank ATM cards.
The judges for both cases held a joint hearing, and both decided Monday that Scott was competent after reviewing a psychiatric evaluation of the defendant.
Scott has pleaded not guilty. He continues to be held in lieu of $750,000 bond.
