(Neb.)-Update On Sheridan County Accident Last Thursday

By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 02/25/2013 08:50 AM

(RUSHVILLE)-KCSR has received a listener tip with updated information regarding the two-vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday morning in Sheridan County. Driver Melissa Jaggers slid on ice and lost control of her vehicle as she was traveling eastbound approximately five miles west of Gordon. She crossed the center line of the highway and was struck by a Source Gas truck, driven by Kenneth Costello, coming from the opposite direction.
Melissa’s 12-year-old son Matthew was airlifted to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, where he passed away Thursday evening. The listener tip said Matthew was a seventh grader at Gordon-Rushville Middle School in Rushville where he played Junior High football and basketball. The tip also reports Melissa sustained a broken pelvis as a result of the accident. Her daughter, Mikayla, the third passenger in the vehicle, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Denver with a severe concussion, where she was continuing to drift in and out of consciousness.
The Source Gas truck driver was treated and released at the Gordon Hospital.
As more information becomes available, we will pass that along to our listeners.
