(Neb.)-Valuations Rise; Building Permits Drop In Chadron In 2012  Listen

(Chadron)- In 2012, the city of Chadron saw a decrease in the number of building permits applied for, dropping to 33, from the previous year’s total of 37. Also, the valuation total or worth has increased over that same fiscal year. Janet Johnson, city of Chadron building and zoning official tells KCSR News why the valuations have seen a jump.

Even though building permits have dropped, Johnson believes new homes and businesses are right around the corner.

Valuations have gradually increased over the past five years.  The current 4.6 million dollar valuation is more than double the amount of 2008. Johnson says that this has typically been a consistent trend.
