By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 02/18/2013 10:59 AM

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - The nonprofit Farm Rescue group is accepting applications from farmers in need of help with spring planting.

North Dakota-based Farm Rescue helps family farmers in the Dakotas, Montana, Minnesota, and Iowa who have suffered a major injury, illness, or natural disaster. Volunteers help the farmers plant and harvest up to 1,000 acres of crops.

The effort began in 2006. It helped its 200th farmer last year.

Priority is being given to applications by April 15. More information can be found at http://www.farmrescue.org.
