(Wyo.)-House Approves Bible Class For High School Bill
By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 02/01/2013 08:43 AM CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The state House of Representatives has approved a bill that would allow Wyoming public high schools to offer elective biblical study courses.
The House voted 44-15 in favor of the bill Thursday. House Bill 130 now goes to the Senate for consideration.
Republican Rep. Stephen Watt, of Rock Springs, says the intention of his proposal isn't to advocate for or against any particular religion.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled several times that public schools can offer classes about the Bible but can't use it for devotional purposes.
