(Neb.)-Car/Pedestrian Accident Sends One To Hospital
(Chadron)-Shortly before noon on Thursday, rescue personnel were called to an accident at the corner of Third and Main Streets in Chadron for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. KCSR News sent a reporter to the scene, and a black pickup was observed parked on the south east corner of the intersection, with a person lying in the middle of the roadway.
No specific information is available regarding the accident, but it appeared the female pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by the pickup. Several volunteers were on scene assisting the victim, and law enforcement from the Chadron Police Department, Dawes County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol were also on hand.
Although traffic was not halted, it was slowed to one lane, with some traffic being diverted as the ambulance arrived with the medical crew. EMTs proceeded to place a medical collar on the victim, as well as placing her on a back board, before loading her into the ambulance and taking her to Chadron Community Hospital.
As more information becomes available on the accident, we will pass that along to our listeners.
