CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming high school students would have to take math classes each year under a bill being considered by state lawmakers.

Currently, state law doesn't require students to study math in their senior years though some school districts still require it.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that the proposal to require math classes every year won easily won approval from the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday. It now goes to the full Senate for debate.

Democratic Sen. Chris Rothfuss of Laramie said he introduced the bill after hearing about high school graduates failing their math placement exams in college.
