(Neb.)-Foundation Offers Grants and Scholarships Through Estate
(PANHANDLE)-The Darold A. Newblom Foundation is now accepting applications for grants and scholarships that will be given by the foundation in May 2013.
The bulk of the Newblom Estate was given to the foundation to support the development of young men and women in Box Butte and Dawes Counties by providing scholarships to those wishing to obtain an education, and by assisting in the founding, equipping, and maintaining of associations and institutions engaged in the advancement of learning. This is the 23rd year that the foundation has distributed grants and scholarships.
Individuals whose educational plans and organizations whose goals coincide with the purposes of the foundation can obtain application forms from foundation secretary-treasurer Wally A. Seiler by calling 308-762-4693. Interested applicants can call with questions as well. Applications for all funds to be awarded this year must be submitted to the foundation’s Board of Directors by April 1st, 2013.
Newblom was a native of western Nebraska and operated a family farm near Hay Springs until poor health forced him to retire in 1980. Following his retirement, he moved to Alliance where he lived until his death in 1988.
