(Neb.)- Some Nebraska Schools Heighten Security After Threat
GERING, Neb. (AP) - Several schools in western Nebraska will heighten security Friday after law enforcement officials say a former student threatened a shooting rampage.
Officials are trying to locate a former student of Valts Alternative school. Authorities say a teacher reported Wednesday that the former male student had threatened a shooting rampage for Dec. 21st.
Gering Public Schools, Community Christian School and the Valts Alternative school will lock their doors because they are the only schools in the area still open.
School officials say the lockdown is a precaution. Doors will be locked once students enter school, and permission will be required to enter after that. Police also will have a heavier presence at the schools.
