(Neb.)-Chadron City Council Welcomes Two New Members
(Chadron)-Two new members of city council were sworn in, as the Chadron City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday (December, 3rd) night. Paris Fisher along with John Gamby, were both sworn in to council last night, replacing Jim Mapes and 16 year council member Donny Grantham. Grantham was the second longest termed council member, in the history of Chadron, serving both as Mayor and Vice Mayor in his time on the city council. Following the taking of the oath for both Fischer and Gamby, the Chadron City Council voted on its new mayor and vice mayor. Karen Fischer was selected to serve two more years as the City of Chadron Mayor, while Levi Grant was selected as the vice mayor. Both outgoing members were recognized by Mayor Fischer for their years of service to the City of Chadron.
In other action taken at the city council meeting Monday night, Police Chief Tim Lordino introduced three new city employees. Amanda Balgheim (Ballg-Hime) and Judy Gortsema were recognized as new police dispatchers, while Jennifer Henry was recognized as the new Animal Control Officer.
Tom Menke and the City of Chadron water department were commended at Monday’s meeting, Menke received the Water Operator of the Year from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and the City of Chadron water department notched an award for the safety from the American Water Works Association.
