(Neb.)-Guns N Hoses To Benefit Shop With A Cop

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 11/30/2012 08:23 AM

(Chadron)-The Chadron Police Department is gearing up for their annual Shop With A Cop campaign, which provides gifts to underprivileged children around the holidays. This year, they are mixing it up a bit to help raise funds for the cause.

Chadron Law Enforcement and the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department will be facing off in the Guns ‘n Hoses Charity Basketball Game, with the proceeds benefiting the Shop With A Cop program. In addition to the game, halftime will feature a performance by the Chadron High School Spirit Squad, and also a 50/50 raffle.

The Shop With A Cop program uses all donations to purchase food and gifts for Christmas for less fortunate children in the community. The children have the opportunity to go shopping with an officer, which is a fun, exciting, and sometimes interesting experience for both the officers and the children.

The basketball fundraiser will be taking place on Sunday, December 9, beginning at 4 pm at the Chadron Middle School gym. The cost is $5 per person, with children 10 and under free. Donations for the Shop With A Cop program can be turned in at the door, or also taken to the Chadron Police Department. School Resource Officer Aron Chrisman will be on KCSR’s Community Focus program during Live @ 4 on Tuesday, December 4, to talk more about the program and the game.
