(Chadron)-Several entities in the area challenged employees to help collect food for area food pantries. Involved in the challenges were Cameco, Upper Niobrara White Natural Resources District, Chadron Community Hospital and the City of Chadron. The different departments within the companies also challenged each other, with the supervisor for the winning department agreeing to wear a turkey costume for a picture.
Within the City, the three departments that competed were Administration, headed by City Manager Wayne Anderson; Public Works, led by Public Works Director Milo Rust; and Public Safety, headed by Chief of Police Tim Lordino.
According to Human Resources Director Bev Bartlett, employees from these departments began collecting food on Monday, and by the afternoon on Wednesday over 290 pounds of food was collected. The Public Safety department collected 200 of the 290 pounds, and Lordino graciously posed with Anderson and Rust for a picture while donning the turkey suit. His department also received a $25 Subway gift card for a department celebration.
Bartlett encouraged others to consider making donations to food pantries, especially during this time of year with the holidays upon us.
