(Neb.)-Canvassing Board Finalizes Chadron Council Results
(Chadron)-The Dawes County Canvassing Board convened on Thursday morning to validate and finalize voting from the election on Tuesday. One race in the local area was watched very closely, and the results for Chadron City Council were very close on election night.
Three candidates were running for two seats on the Council, with Paris Fisher, John “Doc” Gamby and Jim Mapes vying for those positions. Gamby had a comfortable lead Tuesday night, but Fisher and Mapes were neck and neck, with only 6 votes separating them that evening.
After the Canvassing Board reviewed all of the ballots and counted them again, votes for Fisher were counted at 1022, and the votes for Mapes were counted as 1011. It is not clear at this point if a recount will be conducted.
