(Neb.)-Morning Accidents Near Scottsbluff Keep Law Enforcement Busy
(Scottsbluff)-The Nebraska State Patrol responded to a pair of accidents on Wednesday morning near Scottsbluff. One of those happened at 8:02, when the NSP and Scottsbluff Rural Fire were dispatched to an injury accident at the intersection of County Road 19 and Highway 26 just west of Scottsbluff.
An investigation revealed that John Brendan Kyle Swanson, age 17, from Scottsbluff, was traveling northbound on County Road 19, and failed to yield when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Lance Lewis, age 27, from Mitchell. Swanson was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity. Lewis was in a 1979 El Camino pickup. Both vehicles were totaled.
Swanson and two other juveniles in his vehicle were transported by Valley Ambulance to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff with non-life threatening injuries. Lewis was not transported. Swanson was also cited for failure to yield. Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. No information has been officially released on the second incident, but other reports indicate it involved a single vehicle with a single occupant, who did not receive serious injuries.
