(Wyo.)-Flu Season Gets Early Start
By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 10/10/2012 10:35 AM CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - State health officials say they are already getting reports of flu cases in Wyoming.
Wyoming state health officer Dr. Wendy Braund says flu cases have been confirmed especially in Sheridan County.
Braund says the flu season in Wyoming typically peaks in February and March.
She is encouraging residents to get their annual flu vaccination.
Influenza vaccines are available in many locations around Wyoming, including local public health offices, workplaces, doctors' offices and retail stores.
In Wyoming, the cost of the vaccine itself is covered for many children through a state program called Wyoming Vaccinates Important People. Children who qualify for free vaccines include those covered by Medicaid, those without health insurance or considered underinsured and American Indian or Alaska native children.
